COOS BAY, Ore. -For the majority of contestants competing in Saturday's Bay Area Teen Idol Finale, it meant an end to a summer long singing competition. But for one lucky winner, it's just a start for more great things to come.

What started out as 17 competing teens was narrowed down to just four remaining contestants.

Destyni Fuller, star Moralez, Emma Wampler and Thaddeus Miller each sang a series of three songs, trying their hardest to impress the more than 450 fans on site but more importantly, the judges.

And it appeared perseverance paid off, as third year contestant, and last year runner-up Star Moralez took top honors.

The 16 year old Myrtle Point teen will continue to perform regularly as the winner, as she continues to live up to the drug, alcohol and tobacco free standards of Bay Area Teen Idol. She's also the recipient of a $500 cash prize and a free term at Southwestern Oregon Community College.
