Competitor Channing Pribeagu gets ready to go on stage at the Oregon Ironman Bodybuilding Show Saturday 5/18 at Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City.

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. -- The state's most muscular and physically fit people came together in Lincoln City Saturday for the 2013 Oregon Ironman Bodybuilding show.

The National Physique Committee qualifying bodybuilding competition drew a crowd of aproximately 1,000 people to the Chinook Winds Casino.

The name 'ironman' might be a little misleading as over 60 percent of the show's 244 competitors were actually women.

Organizers said that five years ago Women's Figure, Physique and Bikini categories were added to the competition, and the show’s popularity among female competitors just grew from there.

Portland figure competitor Channing Pribeagu told KVAL News she thinks women often have more motivation than men to compete in the sport of bodybuilding.

“I chose to do this five weeks ago because I had done one before, and I got to where I felt comfortable in a bikini, so i'm going to do it again,” Pribeagu said. “(I) just got done having this baby, just got done nursing, and so I just wanted my body to go back to normal."

Channing had her third child, a baby girl, just ten weeks ago.
