Foreign exchange students in our local area band together to raise money for disaster relief overseas.
Students from Brazil, Pakistan, Palestine and Yemen held a carwash Thursday afternoon to raise money for the Red Cross.

That money is on it's way to Pakistan where ravishing floods have destroyed parts of the country and taken millions of lives.
The carwash was Abdul Tahir's idea.
From Pakistan, he says every little bit of aid helps.

"My country, it is suffering from a flood and it is getting severer and severer (sic) and it is causing much of a disaster," says Tahir. "So many people out there. There are like 20 million victims, and there are more than that. I'm here alone, far away from Pakistan. I need to help the people there."

The carwash was donation only and the students ended up raising $150.
While there were only four students on Thursday, 22 more are coming to the area in anticipation of the start of the school year, and host families are still needed.
