COQUILLE, ORE - A security reduction hearing for Nick McGuffin that had been set for Thursday, September 2nd, has been canceled at the request of his attorney's.

When the man who is charged with killing 15-year-old Leah Freeman ten years ago made his first court appearance on August 24th he thanked the Judge for giving him this hearing to try and reduce his $2,000,000 security, saying he was a family man and not a flight risk.

Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier confirmed in a press release that the hearing was off, but told KCBY by phone that he did not know why the request had been made by the Defense attorney's.

KCBY is attempting to contact the Attorney's, but have so far been unable to do so.

Currently, according to Frasier, the next scheduled court appearance for McGuffin is a Status Hearing on October 11th.
