Rivalry is in the air in North Bend
By Brie Thiele, KCBY NewsRivalry was in the air Wednesday as the North Bend and Marshfield booster clubs held a joint meeting in the Hall of Champions at Vic Adams Field. This is the fourth year the two clubs have kicked off the school year together. "There's a great connection between the two programs and we look forward to kicking off the season," says Ainsworth. "Mike mentioned the game used to be at the end of the year and I think there probably was a little more intensity and heat because it was the last game of the Midwestern League season. We were in the same league and a lot of times that game came down to seeding." The Bay Area rivalry game takes place this Friday night at North Bend High School. "This year, I think we've got some pretty good speed and we're enjoying the group that we have," says Taylor. "We do have a few returners and we were young last year on the line, extremely young. We still only have three seniors coming back this year on out line, so we are still young." This year, the rivalry will be taken to a whole new level as the pirates are forced to play out their home games on the bulldog's field. |
