PORTLAND, Ore. - A nearly 8,000-acre wildfire burning outside of Grants Pass is now 95 percent contained.

Firefighters spent Labor Day weekend working the Oak Flat Fire and on Tuesday they plan to transfer command to a team made up of mostly local resources.

Showers are expected in the area on Tuesday or Wednesday and firefighters expect that will help them further secure the fire lines.

Several roads in the area, as well as Sam Brown Campground, do remain closed, however.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
