Sky West set to soar from North Bend

Sky West set to soar from North Bend

By Tim Novotny

NORTH BEND - All systems are go for the deal between the Southwest Oregon Regional Airport and Sky West-United Airlines, securing non-stop flights southbound to San Francisco, starting mid-summer.

There was a feeling at the board meeting on Tuesday that the deal would be finalized soon, and it was, at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

It's taken over two years to secure the deal and the deciding factor was the $250,000 the airport board added to the existing $400,000 revenue guarantee for Sky West's investment security.

Four flights with 30 seats each, two leaving-two returning, will start up July 7th...just in time for the opening of the new terminal.

Now the airport board says it's up to the public to utilize this long-awaited service in order to keep it here long term.

The cost of the roundtrip southbound ticket is expected to be announced on March 27th.
