COOS BAY - The Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life for the Coos Bay North Bend chapter is just around the corner and teams are very busy raising money for the cause.

Like the Cardinal staff team, who held their Cafe Lunch Fundraiser on Friday, where they served steak sandwiches for a suggested donation of $5.

They're just one of 41 teams that have signed on, up from last year's total, according to Kim Davidson from the local chapter, who's encouraging everyone to get involved.

"If you care about someone has cancer or you've just feeling frustrated and wondering how you can help this person, do something," says Davidson. "Go over and mow their yard, take them to lunch, have a fundraiser, invite your friends and get some music. Come to Relay for Life and join a team, be a sponsor, be on the Committee. Help us make it a lot of fun."

Their goal is raise $94,000, and Davidson feels, they're on their way to exceeding that amount.

She adds, it's never to late to become a volunteer or form a team. Last year, one team formed three weeks before the event and was able to raise $2,400.

This year's relay for life is set to happen on June 21 and 22 at Sunset Middle School.
