New birthing center at Coos County Fair
By Nicole Plascencia
For the first time in Coos County Fair history there will be an animal birthing center at the fairgrounds in Myrtle Point. There are newborn chick-lets, baby dogs, cows and many more. But the main attraction is a sow that just gave birth to several little piglets.
Director Karen Jernstedt says their main goal is to teach agriculture to those who have no idea what it takes to raise animals. 4-H student Brady Esch has been working with animals for a while and brought his new llama to the exhibit. He hopes the fair will be a good experience and a good place to socialize the animal. Since the exhibit does have pregnant and newborn animals, safety and precaution are the center's number one priority. |
