COOS BAY, ORE - The privacy of hundreds of community college students is put at risk, after someone steals a laptop computer from the campus at Southwestern Oregon Community College.

The school issued a press release on Friday stating that a new computer that contained student records for approximately 200 current and former students at Southwestern was stolen on Thursday.

Now they did add that all of the students have been contacted and that their records at SOCC have been put on a privacy hold in order to prevent unauthorized access to the information.

Extra measures are also being put in place in order for the College to be proactive in preventing any future thefts.
