COOS BAY, Ore. – The U.S. Dept. of Energy announced Dec. 12 that it is awarding $4 million for a wind turbine demonstration off the Oregon Coast at Coos Bay.
Seattle-based Principle Power plans to install five floating foundations that will support 6-megawatt wind turbines.
The project will take place 10 to 15 miles offshore.
Oregon and Washington’s Congressmen support the measure, saying it will advance Oregon’s green energy options and they will work with local fishermen.
