HAUSER, Ore. - A local campground has received some national recognition for its gorgeous scenery and dedication to serving campers.
The KOA Campground in Hauser was recently named one of the "Top 25 Amazing Spots in America" by Reserve America, one of the nation's leading recreation reservation services. Owners Fritz and Kathy Gross said they are flattered by the distinction and have a good idea why they their campground was recognized. "I think that the dunes are the big draw and we happen to be on the right side of the highway for that. And our great staff and the great weather and all the things that we were able to put in," said Fritz. The Grosses said it is not only their close proximity to the dunes but the services they provide - like laundry, on-site hook-ups and activities for campers - that keep people coming back to stay. And they hope the recent recognition will draw new visitors to the coast. "I think it exposes more folks to parts of the coast, especially people that aren't living real close in Oregon. A lot of people don't know of the Oregon dunes and any recognition at all opens eyes to people that go, 'oh i don't want to go to the coast,' but yeah you should come, it's beautiful." The KOA Campground was one of 4,000 parks reviewed and evaluated by Reserve America for this distinction and others. |
