Plea date continued for man accused of shooting half-brother

COQUILLE, ORE - The man accused of shooting Kevin Nelson near his Charleston home last May waives his right to a speedy trial during a brief court appearance on Monday morning.
59 year old Nickolas Lenn Crooks was arrested after the 52 year old Nelson died from a single gunshot wound on May 30th. A Coos County Grand Jury later indicted Crooks for the murder. On Monday, he appeared with his lawyer before Judge Richard Barron and waived his right to trial within 60 days and had his plea date continued until July 27th. Security has been set at $1.5 Million dollars. |
