COQUILLE, Ore. - Have you ever wanted to work in law enforcement?

Well now is you chance to see if its for you.

The Coquille Police Department is currently recruiting reserve officers to join their force.

The reserve program is made up of community members that have an interest in law enforcement or have a background in law enforcement.

"Our reserve program, they assist the duty officer in various different capacities within the law enforcement family. We also so special events or call-outs that may happen throughout the course of the duration," says Sargeant Dave Chappelle.

Coquille Police will be hosting a meeting this Sunday, July 5th, for anyone interested in learning more about the program.

Chappelle says you don't necessarily have to have a background in law enforcement.

"A pre-requisite obviously you have to be at least 21 years of age and have a clean criminal history, and you have to pass a background check. Then you're put through a reserve academy and our training process internally here."

Again the meeting about the reserve officer program will be this Sunday, July 5th at six p.m. in the Coquille Community Building.

For more information call Sargeant Chappelle at the Coquille Police Department at 396-2114.
