Coquille man receives jail sentence, probation for November shooting death
By Kristina Nelson, KCBY NewsCOQUILLE, Ore. - A Coquille man is sentenced to 90 days in jail and three years probation in a Coquille Courtroom Friday, from charges stemming from the shooting death of a woman last November in Coquille. 46 year-old Ronald Wayne Wilson, appeared before Judge Michael Gillespie, to receive his sentence. Wilson plead guilty to one count of reckless endangering in June, from the incident on November 10th of last year where 45 year-old Patricia Shaw was found dead in his home from a gunshot. Originally a grand jury had indicted Wilson on a more serious count of criminally negligent homicide, but an investigation ultimately proved Shaw died at her own hand. Before the sentencing was handed down, both Wilson, and his attorney David Terry spoke one last time about the unfortunate events. "I am sincerely sorry not only to you and the community but especially to her family. I didn't realize that it was going to happen," said Wilson. Terry added, "He has gone through over and over again the process of dissecting what went on that day. I also know that Mr. Wilson has been literally tortured by this event since the day that it occurred." Wilson will serve no more than 90 days in jail, followed by 36 months of probation. During his probation he is prohibited from possessing any weapons. His gun, a .45 caliber semi-automatic used during the crime, will also be confiscated. |
