Local church gives away free clothes this weekend
NORTH BEND, Ore. - Doing what they can to help out folks during these tough economic times, the Church of Christ in North Bend is giving away free clothes this weekend to anyone who wants them.

Volunteers at the church have been working all week to prepare for their 10th annual free clothing giveaway.

Every year, the church opens up their doors for one Saturday in the fall, offering gently used clothes and shoes to people who need it in the community.

"This year we have wonderful clothes. We have a real good quality of clothes, we have a lot of children's clothes, a lot of school-aged children's clothes. Clothing for adults, if people need something warm to wear to work," says coordinator DeeAnn Russell.

Russell adds that this year the church has seen an overwhelming amount of support from the community, who have donated hundreds of shoes, coats, sweaters, pants and other items.

And this year, they need it more than ever before.

"We have real high unemployment in our area. I think it's very difficult to get clothes for your family. I think there's a lot of good parents that want their children to have clothes that are decent for school. And I just think this year, there's more need than ever, that as a community we reach out and try to help each other."

Bags will be provided for the clothes to those attending.

The free clothing giveaway is this Saturday from 9 to 2.

The Church of Christ is located on Broadway in North Bend.
