REEDSPORT, Ore. - Reedsport's James Barrone Park recently received some much needed upgrades thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers.

Members of the Ford Family Foundation Cohort III, a community service organization, raised over $12,000 with the help of local service organizations, to help install new equipment at the park this summer.

"We determined that Barrone Park needed a face-lift, and for community safety within the park confines of this community. And we felt that, that would serve not only Reedsport but Gardiner and Winchester Bay, so we tried to make it a global kind of project," says Foundation Member Sylvia Tommasino.

23 volunteers worked on the project which took over a year to complete at a cost of $12,000, all of which was raised through fund-raising efforts.

Tommasino says the whole community is excited about the new equipment and upgrades.

"We approximately have three pet stations that are located appropriately for all the per owners in this area. We have a play station that is located here, available to a number of children, different ages. We have a bench here, we have refurbished the gazebo and we have refurbished all of the picnic tables," says Tommasino.

Barrone Park is located off of Highway 101 near Highland Elementary School in Reedsport.
