Clambake Benefit Concert draws in dancers
By Erica Rush, KCBY NewsCOQUILLE, Ore. -The much anticipated South Coast Clambake Jazz festival is just a few months away now. But for a small fee, folks in Coquille got a preview of what's to come. Co-Sponsored by the Sawdust Theater, hundreds of folks from the South Coast and Southern Oregon turned out Saturday night, to check out some fun theater entertainment, as well as a couple local bands. First up were the Young Bucs, playing a little doo-wop that got the crowd up and dancing. And while this might not be the traditional Jazz sound, Festival President, Jerry Harris says in the past 22 years, they've adjusted their musical catalog, to meet viewer demands. "We've changed the concept of the event a bit from Traditional Jazz to a more wide range of music genres so we can attract younger people, people that like the old traditional jazz and then folks that just like a well rounded variety of music," said Harris. Also performing later on would be Soulpie. These are just two of the 12 bands that will perform during the Clambake Jazz Festival, during the second week of March. All the proceeds from this benefit concert will go towards the festival. |
