Coquille hires new officer
By Nicole Plascencia KCBY NewsCOQUILLE, Ore.- After losing 2 officers this year, the Coquille Police Department is back at full staff again this week as they bring in a new officer. A former corrections deputy at the Coos County Jail, Dan Henthorn says he's ready to make the transition into Coquille's police department. Since Henthorn dealt with inmates at his time working for the Sheriff's Office KCBY asked if he though it would interfere with his work on the street, "I don't think so, in the end they're just regular guys, it's just that I happen to know who they are and their past better than a regular person." Henthorn tested when the first officer position opened up and tested this time around when he didn't get the job the first time. Chief Mark Dannels says he's glad to have Henthorn on board, "what we liked about Dan was he had worked prior law enforcement being at the Coos County Sheriff's Office, he lived here in Coquille, he's married and settled into our community, he's just a good fit for our organization." Henthorn was officially sworn in this week and will be training with senior officers until he completes the police academy. |
