NORTH BEND, Ore. - The waters in Coos Bay got an unexpected visitor Tuesday morning in the form of a huge gray whale.

Visitors and staff at the Mill Casino-Hotel got quite a sight when they looked out the window or strolled along the boardwalk.

According to casino staff, they first spotted the giant around 8 a.m.

The whale was swimming his way back and forth past the boardwalk, he even had some seal friends to keep him company.

Jan Hodder with the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology says gray whales have started their coastal southern migration to Baja California and believes the whale just swam into Coos Bay to check things out.
