NORTH BEND, Ore. -If you're looking to get a jump start on your holiday shopping, spending a few bucks at Fiddlesticks Gifts in North Bend can also help out one of many South Coast schools.

For the week of Nov. 9-14, Fiddlesticks is donating 20% of any items purchased, to participating schools in Coos Bay and North Bend.

According to Co-Owner, Gary Rifkin, he and his wife have owned this store, at various locations in the community, for 30 years now. Having so many families come through each year, Rifkin said this is their way to give back and help supply funds for everything from field trips, sporting activities, and classroom projects.

"The community has been great to us and we decided to give back," said Rifkin. He adds, "We just see that there are a lot of missed opportunities in the schools just because of lack of funds. Our area kids just don't get what you get in other areas, so we're trying to help out with that."

Last year, Fiddlesticks held individual school parties and raised about $1,500. This year, they're trying to do more and hopefully make this an annual event, as well as motivate other businesses to get involved.

And for anyone shopping Fiddlesticks between Nov. 9-14, don't forget to mention your school of choice for their fundraiser.
