NORTH BEND, Ore. -Staff and volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club Southwestern Oregon give their time and energy for the better of our area youth. But that couldn't happen, without the support of community donors.

More than 300 guests came out Friday night, for the Club's annual Banquet and Auction at the Mill Casino Hotel.

Among dinner and drinks, folks also got to bid on some hundreds of items, all donated in order to raise funds for the Club's general operations.

Fittingly, the theme of this year's event was, 'Go Green for Kids.' And according to Larry Close with Boys and Girls Club, It's sort of a play on words. "We want people to reach deep into their pockets for the green, the cash and we also want to make sure that we're all sort of aware of the environment, doing things to preserve our environment."

Close adds, that despite the downturn in the economy during these recent years, local donors seem to realize that an investment for a child's future is more than worth it.
