LAKESIDE, Ore. - After weeks of campaigning back and forth, the people of Lakeside made their decision Tuesday, on their recent recall election, voting to keep their entire city council and mayor.

65 percent of the registered voters in Lakeside voted down two campaigns to recall the six city councilors including Clark Anderson, Elaine Armstrong, Mack Eubanks, Rod Shilling, Chrysta Swift and Tim Crockett, as well as Mayor Oroville Nelson.

Chief Recall Petitioner Cathy Gould, lead the recall against five of the six city councilors, she says while it's not the outcome she hoped for, she's still says the recall election was worth it.

"It definitely opened a lot of eyes. A lot of people that were just sitting back and not partaking, maybe will come forward now and partake," said Gould.

On the other side, Chief Recall Petitioner Calvin Walker, who lead the recall against Councilor Crockett and Mayor Nelson, says he doesn't think the recall was worth the cost to the city but he is pleased with the election results.

"Our goal when we started this was to save the five councilors that the citizens voted in and we succeeded. People that are in their positions are there because they want to help the citizens of Lakeside, they want to do good for the citizens, they're going to work together, they'll make it happen," said Walker.

The recall election cost the City of Lakeside around $4,000.
