NORTH BEND, Ore. - Little Theatre on the Bay is stepping back in time, all the way back to the 1950s, in a new Neil Simon play, about a group of television writers.

'Laughter on the 23rd Floor' is the latest production to hit the mainstage at LTOB.

Directed by KCBY's own Tim Novotny and co-directed by Anna Weidemiller, it's the fourth Neil Simon play to come to the area in the last few years.

"It's set in 1953 and it's basically a group of writers for a comedy variety show, the "Max Prince Show," and it talks about how they go about getting ideas for their scripts. It dabbles a little bit in some of the things that were going on in the day, the beginning of the Cold War and the McCarthy era," says Weidemiller.

Besides the minor swearing, it's rated as a PG-13 show, the play actually has a great comedic backbone.

"It's a really good ensemble show and there's a lot of action that happens in one little room. I think it's interesting to watch some of the things that are happening when there's dialogue on one side of the stage but then there's some other things happening on the other side."

Again there is swearing in the production which gives it a PG-13 rating, so it might not be suitable for younger audiences.

'Laughter on the 23rd Floor' open this Friday, January 22nd and runs the next three weekends.

Friday and Saturday shows start at 8, and Sunday matinees at 2.
