Local high school gets a new look
REEDSPORT, Ore. - Earlier this week we told you about some recent changes to Reedsport's Junior/Senior High School, into a charter school system.

But it seems the way students learn isn't the only thing that's changed at the school, the building itself is transforming as well.

For close to a year, construction crews have been hard at work on the building.

From re-placing bleachers in the gym, to new locker rooms, the entire school is getting a face-lift, there are even some changes you can't see.

"Probably the biggest change is the heating and the leaking roof. We now have a building that's warm, that's dry. Windows, the west windows, that we're awful for losing heat, they have been removed and new energy efficient windows have been put in. This whole administration wing was redone," remarks Principal Laura Davis.

There are also some major changes to some of the science rooms.

"They re-did the high school biology room and one of the junior high science rooms. They're currently working on the high school chemistry room and another junior high science room, and they're remodeling the library."

An elevator was also installed this week.

Davis says once school is out this summer, some senior lockers will be replaced and more work will be done through the fall.
