Women's Imaging Center gets faster, more detailed results

COOS BAY, Ore. -Bringing more attention and faster care to women on the South Coast, Bay Area Hospital opens up it's new state of the art, Women's Imaging Center.

The facility, which originally opened up at the start of the year, hosted an open house Wednesday evening, offering tours of their newly remolded site.

According to staff, they house five ultrasonographers and mammographers, that's able to use 3D and 4D imaging to best serve its patients.

"The digital mammography allows immediate viewing of the images so for the patient experience, they in and out real quick," said Imaging Service Director, Doug Gauntz. He adds, "We can send images electronically, and you can pan and zoom images."

Aside from taking tours, guest also got to visit with staff and even make bids on a photo submitted by Donna Wright. A cancer survivor herself, she wants to not only raise funds for free screenings but awareness for getting annual mammograms too.

"It's very very important that you have a mammogram every year because that's what diagnosed the cancer that I had. I'm a survivor and I'm sure they'll be a lot more if this is kept in the schedule for every year," said Wright.
