NORTH BEND, Ore. - Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the Coos Historical and Maritime Museum?

Well now is your chance to get an insiders look at museum operations, and objects not even on display.

This Thursday night, the museum will be opening it's doors to give folks a sneak peak of what goes on when it's doors are closed.

According to Collections Manager Vicki Wiese, the reservation only event will give folks a chance to learn how exhibits are put together, and see how things work when visitors aren't around.

"We're gonna take them into the back offices and show them where some actual work is done. We're gonna pull some items out that are in storage currently, that people don't get to see every day. We're gonna walk people through the museum, talk about our exhibits, the process that goes into creating the exhibit, not just hanging things on the wall, but that decision making process of what makes it into the exhibit, what doesn't."

The event serves as a fundraiser for the museum, to help with daily operating costs.

Wiese says there are about 15 spots left, and reservations are required.

The cost is $15 for adults, $12 dollars for museum members, children 12 and under are free.

The event starts at 7 p.m. this Thursday night, to make reservations or for more information call 541-756-6320.
