Local museum to be featured on the Travel Channel
By Kristina Nelson, KCBY NewsNORTH BEND, Ore. - The Coos Historical and Maritime Museum is getting a chance to show off some of their collection to a national television audience, after finding out they will be one of a handful of small Northwest museums featured on the Travel Channel. Museum Collections Manager Vicki Wiese says the networks producers first contacted her about a month ago about possibly doing a segment on the museum, but it wasn't until last week, when she found out they got the official word they would be on the Travel Channel. "They saw a photograph of a staff member on-line holding a Japanese balloon bomb ring. They're coming to the West Coast and they want to do interesting stories about things that have happened on the west coast and the Japanese balloon bombs are important to our local history, but it's very interesting for the entire West Coast." Wiese says she's not sure when the show will be taped quite yet, although it will be sometime in the spring. She says she's excited to get a chance to show off the museum on TV. "It's going to be an hour long TV show, our part of it will be all of five minutes, but, it's going to have national attention. So we're really excited about that, getting our name out their nationally. It's going to be lots of different stories across the country." |
