Dellinger signs on as a Duck
By Erica Rush, KCBY NewsCOOS BAY, Ore. -This time it's friends and family flipping for the local gymnast as Marshfield High School Senior, Torie Dellinger signs her letter of intent to perform at the University of Oregon next Fall. With multiple awards under her belt, including a couple trips to regionals and one visit to Nationals, this level 10 Gymnast has no doubt made leaps and bounds in the program. Recently though, Dellinger has branched out from the balance beam and bars to compete with the MHS Upbeats, that she says, has opened her up to new possibilities. "When that happened, I started to like cheer leading and I started to like the dance aspect of everything and wanted to find something with everything so when I was looking around, University of Oregon had the new team that came out and it just sounded like me," said Dellinger. That's the University of Oregon Stunt and Gymnastics Team. Only in its second year and first year as a Division 1, NCAA Sport, Dellinger was more than excited when she was offered a partial scholarship to come compete with this team. "I mean i have a bunch of girls that enjoy doing the same thing as me," said Dellinger. "It's a new experience, a lot of people I think are going to be watching it through out the years to come and hopefully it will become a big ting and a lot of other girls will enjoy." Dellinger will officially become a Duck this fall, where she plans to major in Dance Composition and Choreography. |
