"Bach sighting" in CB
By Nicole Plascencia KCBY NewsCOOS BAY, Ore.- A man with a white wig and clothing from the 1700s has made a few stops in Coos Bay over the past week, making one at Garden Elements on Highway 101. "There's been a guy through here yesterday, came through, wandering around rather odd and I asked him if I could help him and he said something about wienerschnitzel," says co-owner Mike Vaughn. Crystal Landucci with the Oregon Coast Music association says it's German musician Johann Sebastian Bach. This Sunday the association will be celebrating Bach's 325th birthday as a fundraiser for this summers music festival. "It's kind of a hard time for the arts now because of all the cuts in grant funding and corporate funding so when the musicians heard the news that there was a problem with our finances that was kind of difficult they said that they would come down from Portland," says Landucci. Ten musicians will be making their way to the Bay Area free of charge to perform in order to raise money for the Oregon Coast Music Festival. The concert with a following reception starts at 2PM Sunday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Coos Bay. Tickets are $20 and $18 for members |
