New leader at the helm for Pirates girls next season
By Tim Novotny KCBY NewsCOOS BAY, ORE - A new head coach takes over the Marshfield Pirates girls basketball team, as the team gets set to play in a Summer League Tournament. Marshfield Athletic Director Bryan Trendall announced on June 14th, that Cindy Olvera is replacing co-coaches Mike George and Doug Miles. She will take over immediately this week, in time for the tournament on North Bend High School on June 19th. Trendall says Olvera is a 1993 graduate of Oregon City High School, where she played Point Guard for their 1992 State Championship team. She is a graduate of BYU and has spent the last eight years teaching and coaching basketball at the JV, varsity assistant, and varsity head coaching levels. Trendall adds, "we think Cindy will be a great fit for MHS as a PE/Health Teacher and girls basketball coach." |
