Fair just the end of a long trail for rodeo queen
By Kristina Nelson, KCBY NewsMYRTLE POINT, Ore. - The Coos County Fair is all about having fun, riding rides, eating some good food and taking in the exhibits with the family. But for the fair and rodeo queen, it's also a lot of hard work. Since being crowned the 2010 Coos County Fair and Rodeo Queen last September, Natalie Hutcheson has been actively representing the county around the state. "It's a job, it's a full year job and it's been my favorite job so far, it's been great.," says Hutcheson. "I just go out to different rodeo's and fairs and I tell people to come to Coos County, I hand out flyer's and handouts and pictures of myself, promoting them to come here." An active member of 4-H, she says she's known for a while that becoming queen is something she wanted to pursue. And last year she was selected out of three girls to represent the county. "I've always been really interested in horses and really into showing, it's just kind of a passion of mine. Throughout 4-H you go through levels and if you're interested in rodeo and you're interested in being a rodeo queen and supporting our Coos County Fair and Rodeo, it's definitely something to do." Hutcheson will be at the fairgrounds all week attending various events. She says if you see her out there don't hesitate to say hi. Hutcheson will also be participating in the rodeo on Friday night with her horse Tabby. |
