Showdown hits the fair

MYRTLE POINT, Ore. - What better place to go country than the Coos County Country Fair and Rodeo, and bringing the music live Tuesday night were several musical acts competing in the Colgate Country Showdown.

Boots were tapping and the crowd was hollering as eight acts made their first of three appearances at the fair in Myrtle Point.
But the numbers will begin to drop quickly over the week as judges tighten their belts and start eliminating some more talent.

Contestants are judged on a scale of 1 to 10 in marketability, vocals, instruments, stage presence and talent, and the fans weren't shy about telling the judges who they liked.

The next will be on Thursday at six pm, once again at the Coos County Fair Grounds, where just three will move on.
