Beer truck crashes on icy Oregon highway

JUNTURA, Ore. - A big rig hauling beer crashed on an icy Eastern Oregon highway Monday morning.

No one was injured.

Trucker Frederick Stadel, 27, from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was westbound on Highway 20 between Ontario and Burns in far Eastern Oregon, near the Malheur/Harney county line.

As the truck traveled downhill into a curve around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Stadel lost control of the truck, police said. The truck and trailer overturned, coming to rest across the highway.

Stadel was OK, but the wreckage blocked the highway for over two hours.

The state highway was expected to be down to one lane while the state transportation department coordinated removal of the truck and its cargo.
