NORTH BEND, Ore. -- The first-ever Bunny Run took place over the weekend at the Pony Village Mall, and it was all for a good cause.

The big winner of the inaugural race? The KCBY News bunny named Sophia.

20 people sponsored the rabbits for $40 each, and some of the bunnies were for sale.

All proceeds went to 4-H, a program that teaches young people how to raise livestock.

"It helps them to learn a lot of things, not just how to raise a rabbit or how to raise a horse, but the responsibility that goes along with a live animal and how to care for it on a daily basis," said Bonnie Hayes of the Pony village Mall.

Hayes says this event will continue next year, and they will add a bunny obstacle course.
