Food stamps can be exchange for tokens to purchase food at participating vendors

COOS BAY, Ore. - The Farmers Market downtown now accepts Oregon Trail cards, also know as food stamps.

People who qualify for benfits can swipe their cards in exchange for tokens to be used at certain local vendors.

The market's manager said she hopes to reach a lot more people since a large population in the community qualifies for food stamps.

The farmers market is open every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
