Coos Bay Wine Walk under new leadership

COOS BAY, Ore. -- The popular Coos Bay Wine Walk is going through a change in leadership.
The Bay Area Rotary Club is taking the lead roll in the monthly event in downtown Coos Bay.
The Coos Bay World newspaper, which originally started the event six years ago, asked the club to take over operations so it could focus on internal changes at the paper.
Heidi Proett of the Rotary Club says there won't be a lot of huge changes to the event. "The only thing you'll notice that is probably a little bit different, is there will probably be some Rotary signs up and about the points where you buy or purchase the glasses, but other than that nothing is going to change," she said.
The wine walk was started as a fundraiser for the Egyptian Theater, and over time spread out to help other local charities.
The first Bay Area Rotary Wine Walk will be next month.
The statement regarding The World's involvement with the Wine Walk is a bit misleading. The World remains a partner in promoting the event and will continue to provide leadership in the Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk in coordination with the Bay Area Rotary Club. I have coordinated the event from the start, I am an employee & circulation director at The World as well as a long term member of The Bay Area Rotary Club.  For additional details you can contact me at 541-269-1222 ext 248.
