COOS BAY, Ore. - He's more often found performing in front of thousands of people in Nashville, but South Coast residents got to enjoy a special treat Tuesday evening, as Grammy nominated country singer Billy Dean played a very intimate performance inside Marshfield Auditorium.

Dean told the audience, "a lot of people don't know my name, but they know my songs." And that proved true as hundreds of concert goers sang the words out loud and cheered him on ferociously.

Before he performed each song, Dean told the audience the inspiration behind the lyrics.

The country singer/songwriter put out 12 albums and 11 top 10 hits during his recording career.

He was also named the Academy of Country Music's "New Male Vocalist" and received an award for "Song of the Year."
