David Walker to anchor new KCBY local evening news segments

COOS COUNTY, Ore. -- Beginning March 12, 2012, local evening news segments on KCBY-TV will be anchored by veteran South Coast newsman David Walker from the KVAL studios in Eugene.

The change represents a new structure in gathering and delivering local news segments to KCBY viewers while it returns former KCBY News Director Walker to his television roots.

“We will still have reporters and cameras on the streets here gathering the important news of the day for our viewers in Coos County,” said Walker. “I’m excited to work with our talented young journalists on a daily basis to continue to provide the best local news coverage possible.”

Tim Novotny’s last broadcast for KCBY will be March 9, 2012.

Novotny started at KCBY in February, 2000 as a reporter and assumed the News Director position later in that year when David Walker moved to KVAL.

“We thank Tim for his years of service and the valuable contributions he’s made to the station and the community,” said General Manager Greg Raschio. “The media landscape is changing daily, but our commitment to continuing the only local news coverage for the Coos County area remains steadfast.”

In addition to the new evening news format, custom weather forecasts and local news segments throughout weekday mornings, noon, and 11 p.m. newscasts will continue each weekday under the new structure.
