Fatal car crash off 250-foot Oregon Coast cliff

DEPOE BAY, Ore. - A woman died when her car went off a cliff along Highway 101 and crashed onto the rocky shore 250 feet below.

Police identified the driver as Adriana Star Ruiz, 23, from Lincoln City.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

A witness saw a 2008 Saturn Vue drive through a wide turnout at high speed and go off the cliff around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The car came to rest on the rocks about 250 feet below.

A Coast Guard boat and helicopter joined firefighters and law enforcement at the scene, about 3 miles south of Depoe Bay.
