COOS BAY, Ore. - Ray Lahaise was working outside his home last Sunday when a man wearing a hard hat approached him and told the 83-year-old he was from the power company.

The man then pulled a gun and changed his story: he was actually a police officer. He ordered Lahaise into his house and made him gather some valuables. The man then tied Lahaise to a chair.

While the suspect and Lahaise were inside, Rodney Roane, who lives on the property, came home on his lunch break and confronted a second man sitting in a vehicle parked in the driveway.

The other man came out of the house and told Roane he was a police officer, ordering him to go and stay inside his home.

Roane complied, but came out of the house a short while later to check on Lahaise. He found Lahaise working to free his hands and call police.

Coos County Sheriff's deputies interviewed the men and went to work tracking down the suspects.

On Monday morning, deputies contacted 30-year-old Aaron Beam of Coos Bay, who turned himself in. He was taken to the Coos County Jail and booked on the charges of Robbery I, Kidnap I, Burglary I, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Impersonating a Police Officer and Criminal Conspiracy.

On Monday evening, sheriff’s deputies located the second suspect and arrested 35-year-old Justin Arriola of Myrtle Point. He was taken to the Coos County and booked on the same charges as Beam.
