Farmer's Market kicks off on the south coast

Farmer's Market kicks off on the south coast

COOS BAY, Ore. -- The Farmer's Market in Coos Bay has opened for the season.

Vendors lined Central Avenue in downtown Coos Bay from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm on Wednesday.

From baked goods and fresh produce to jewelry and flowers, the first farmer's market of the season looked to be a success.

For one local shopper, Molly Holmes, heading out to the market does more than just fill her cupboard. "It's great weather, lots of people out here," she said." "The food variety, you got hot dogs, there's bread samples, a lot of different local businesses. It's a great way to support your community and be around people, and see your friends."

The market will run every Wednesday until mid-Fall.

With about 50 vendors every week, the Coos Bay Downtown Association is hoping the market will be even better this year.
