SALEM, Ore. -- Two escaped inmates were brought back into custody by Marion County Sheriff's Deputies nearly 16 hours after they walked away from a Salem-area correctional facility.
Officials with the Oregon Department of Corrections say Shane Willis, 41, and Tyson McComas, 38, were both discovered missing around 10 pm Friday, after they walked away from Mill Creek Correctional Facility.
Officials say McComas was arrested by Oregon State Police just after noon on Saturday. They say the arrest came after a citizen called in a tip after seeing a photo of the escapees.
Willis was arrested just over two hours later by deputies searching in southeast Salem by Bryan Johnston Park and Creekside Golf Club.
Police say Willis had been serving time since April of 2008 on one count of delivery/manufacturing of a controlled substance out of Marion County. McComas was in since August of 2012, convicted of nine counts of criminal non-support out of Lane County.
Law enforcement officials in the Salem area thank the public for their role in finding the escaped inmates, as well as their cooperation during the search.
Mill Creek is a minimum-security prison located five miles southeast of Salem that houses approximately 280 inmates who are within four years of release.
