Hospital gets grant to help with expansion

COOS COUNTY, Ore. -- Bay Area Hospital received it's biggest gift to date Thursday morning.

Mike and Lindy Keiser, owners of the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, awarded the hospital half a million dollars.

Jim Seeley of Bandon Dunes presented the gift to the hospital's CEO, Paul Janke.

The money goes to the hospital's expansion, which houses some new clinical services, which opens next month.

Seeley says they feel healthcare is a very important thing for the community. "Well, there's hardly anything more important than health and opportunity for people, and this helps the health part," Seeley said. "Other grants that Mike and Lindy have made, and Wild Rivers will make, help with the opportunity part."

"We're just so excited and so appreciative of the generosity of Mike and Lindy Keiser," said Janke. "It really goes a long way towards helping our capital campaign be a success."

That capital campaign has a goal to raise $2 million in donations for the expansion.

The Keisers made the gift through their Oregon Community Foundation.
