Iraq vet's home nearly auctioned in foreclosure

COQUILLE, Ore.- For one Iraq veteran and his family it has been a struggle to get out of foreclosure even when they're up financially.

Alan Canady took a job in Nevada to save the Coquille home he bought in 2004 but the foreclosure has not been resolved.

He drove home Wednesday evening expecting his house to be auctioned off at the Coos County Courthouse Friday.

"It's an eight hour drive from where I work so I you get a lot of time thinking. What am I going to do, what do I need to get out of my house, where am I going to send my wife and kids," Alan Canady said.

"Homeowners want to pay their mortgage like the Canady's. They want to do the right thing, they want to meet their obligations and they are doing the right thing to do it." Laura Robeson, a homeowner specialist said. "Unfortunately the process is not perfect."

Robeson has been working with the family to try to come to an agreement with their bank to save their home.

The family offered to pay back the missed payments but the bank refused the offer.

At one point claiming the family made too much money to modify their loan.

Just hours before they needed to be out of the home they raised their two daughters in - they got an extension.

Which only means their struggle continues to get their home out of foreclosure.
