Judge rules against Port of Coos Bay in lawsuit
COOS BAY, Ore. -- The International Port of Coos Bay is now reviewing its open records policies after losing an open records lawsuit.
The Sierra Club sued the port, after it did not waive legal and reproduction fees for documents the group wanted.
The club says they wanted the documents to make sure the port was compliant with environmental standards.
A Coos County circuit judge ruled in favor of the Sierra Club, saying it should have access to the documents it asked for free of charge.
The port says it will now examine what documents can and can not be legally released before giving them over to the Sierra Club.
Call them selfs environmentalist, but are nothing but obstructionist, costing money to letagate and jobs. People need to push back.
Also omitted is the name of the judge, to whom I would like to ask, why should the Serria club get the documents for free? It cost the county, city, port authority money and time to prepare. Let them pay for it. Â
Sierra club has their own agenda, and it has to date, NOT helped our area....only hurt it...
Sierra club is not working in the best interest of the port or the people, only for their narrow minded vied of the way they would like things to be.
