Local Scots celebrate Burns Night!

NORTH BEND, Ore. - A night full of music, food and alcohol, and the Scottish wouldn't want it any other way. Saturday, the Coastal Celtic Society celebrated the 10th Annual Burns Night celebration.

Decked out in plaid and family tartans, local Scots celebrate Robert Burns, Scotland's national poet and songwriter who's best known for the song, "Auld Lang Syne."

One of the highlights of the night was the haggis, a dish popular in Scotland, that's made up of sheep's organs and traditionally encased in an animal's stomach.

Bagpipers mark the entrance of the haggis.

As the dish is taken around the room, Sandy MacKenzie tells everyone to prepare for a toast, and recites Robert Burns' "Address to a Haggis."

Proceeds from the event went to support the Coastal Celtic Society's scholarship fund, which promotes Celtic culture through music, dance, education and the arts.
