Man crashes, runs to trailer park, climbs power pole, gets shocked

HARBOR, Ore. -- A 53-year-old Brookings man had a shocking end to his run from the law, and is now in a Portland hospital.

Police say that just before 1:30 am, they were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash along Highway 101 near Harbor in Curry County.

Authorities say the driver, James F. Anderson, 53, of Brookings, ran into a trailer park and climbed a power pole.

Anderson was shocked and fell to the ground.

An Oregon State Police trooper, a Curry County Sheriff's deputy and medical crews found Anderson and restrained him.

The man was taken by helicopter to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital in Portland for treatment of serious injuries, including the ones he sustained when he touched the wires, was shocked and fell to the ground.

Police say the investigation leads them to believe meth may be involved.

Authorities say there are charged pending.
