Man dies in weekend ATV accident

MYRTLE POINT, Ore. -- The Coos County Sheriff's office says a 33-year-old man died over the weekend, after he crashed his ATV.

On Saturday at around 1:30 am, Sheriff's deputies and medical crews were sent to the scene of an ATV accident at 54893 Leep Road in Myrtle Point.

Officers found Daniel B. Farmer, 33, of Myrtle Point, pinned under a Kawasaki side-by-side ATV.

Farmer was removed from under the ATV and transported to Coquille Valley Hospital by the Myrtle Point Ambulance, where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is still continuing, but authorities say it appears the accident occurred when Farmer may have over corrected as he was coming off a gravel road and onto a paved roadway.

Authorities say Farmer was partially ejected from the ATV, and seat belts were not in use.
