Men rob gold and silver buyer at knifepoint
COOS BAY, Ore. - Two men robbed a gold and silver buyer at knifepoint after he refused to buy silver from them that he believed had been stolen.
The 51-year-old victim told police he met the men in the 300 block of N. Empire Boulevard just before 10 p.m. Monday.
He declined to buy the silver, concerned that it might be stolen.
One of the told men pulled a knife while the other grabbed a pouch of money from the victim's pocket, police said. The two men fled on foot.
Coos Bay Police officers set up a perimeter with the assistance of deputies from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and an officer from the Coquille Tribal Police.
The North Bend Police K-9 unit attempted to track the suspects, but was not able to locate them.
